Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the IDHere application (the “App”) and the website at id-here.net (together, the “Service”) handle your information. IDHere lets you create records on your device and share them through a short code protected by a PIN, so that another person who knows the code and PIN can look the records up. We have designed the Service to require as little personal information as possible.

Information We Collect

We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or precise location. The Service stores only the following:

  • Installation identifier. When you install the App, it generates a random identifier (a UUID) for that installation. It is not linked to your identity, your Google account, or any advertising identifier, and it is used only to associate your records with your installation.
  • Short code. A short, randomly generated code (for example, six characters) used to look up your records.
  • PIN. A 4-digit PIN you choose to protect access to your records. The PIN is stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash; we never store it in plain text and cannot recover it.
  • Record content. The records you create or print in the App — including their text content, labels, and timestamps — which are synced so they can be looked up by short code and PIN.

Like most internet services, our hosting providers may automatically process basic technical data (such as IP address and request logs) as needed to deliver and secure the Service. We do not use this data to build a profile of you.

How We Use Information

  • To store your records and make them available by short code and PIN.
  • To verify the PIN when someone tries to view records for a short code.
  • To keep records synced and up to date across the App and website.
  • To operate, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.

Anyone who knows a valid short code and its PIN can view the records associated with that code. Please share your short code and PIN only with people you trust, and avoid storing sensitive personal information in your records.

Sharing of Information

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers. We use trusted service providers to run the Service — including Supabase for database and storage and Vercel for hosting — who process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide the Service. We may disclose information if required to do so by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.

Data Retention

We retain your records and associated data for as long as your installation uses the Service. You can request deletion of the data associated with your short code by contacting us at the address below.

Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including transport encryption (HTTPS) and one-way hashing of PINs. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the information associated with your installation or short code. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
